who we are

Emily Edmonds, MPA

Founder & Lead Researcher (and Head of Everything Else)

Emily is an experienced administrator, program manager, and writer with over 20 years’ experience in the public sector. She’s a former restaurant owner and has managed and run Carolina Creators for over twelve years. She holds an MPA from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she wrote her thesis as a Public Service Leadership Fellow on Rural Economic Development, and a BA from Western Carolina University in Social Philosophy and Policy. Emily tried to train as a PhD, but found it too disconnected from the problems of the modern world. She’s worked for startups, small businesses, local and federal governments, and dozens of nonprofits in her career, raising over $75 million in grant funding (so far!) and working with more than 300 happy clients.

Josh Meduri

Head of Everything Internet

Josh is, first and foremost, a skateboarder and a dad. When he’s not busy with that, he’s managing everything related to the internet for our clients: UX and UI design, research, and content; web development; marketing; video and graphics production; and anything else we can come up with for him to test. He loves building operational systems and then getting out of the way, and he’s got a great sense for when we need to change perspective to find a solution. Oh, and he’s also got two decades of experience building in the built world, too, in both real estate and construction. It comes in handy way more than you’d think.

Ryne Jones, MPA

Head of Research & Evaluation

Ryne Jones  is a native of the farming community of McGee’s Crossroads, NC, so he knows a bit about improving rural lives. He’s kind of a unicorn, with magna cum laude degrees in biological sciences, French language and literature, teacher education, and public administration. As if that weren’t enough, he’s a second-year PhD student at NC State University. but he still shares his time, enthusiasm, and meticulous expertise with us + our clients. We love Ryne’s sense of humor, global perspectives, cheerfulness in the face of data catastrophes, and willingness to get his hands dirty (both with crappy spreadsheets and by showing up at team meetings with sweet potatoes from his family’s farm).

Andy Miller

Head of Policy

Andy is, despite this photo which we love, an experienced policy & advocacy specialist, skilled in political communication, community building, grassroots organizing, event management, and political and campaign management and fundraising. He’s the former Director of Legislative Affairs for the NC Department of Environmental Quality and has spent more than a decade working in state, local, and federal policy. He holds a master’s degree in Ethics and Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and a BS in Philosophy and International Studies from Western Carolina University – but what we love about him is his deep understanding of how the world works and how we can work around the constraints of our existing systems. Oh, and talk to this guy about Legos. For real.

You’ll meet the rest of our team soon!

We believe in doing good work with good people.

That means we have a team of people we can call on who meet just the right needs for every project – nearly thirty professionals around the world who work with us because they enjoy our clients, our work, and our commitment to excellence.

We do good work by building the best team possible to meet your needs, customized to your project and vision. We are selective in the projects we approach, because we believe that each project is a chance to build partnerships that will last for decades, and because we plan to work with our clients for a long time to make our communities better places to live, work, and play.

We believe in equity, quality, and relationships. If you share these values, we’d love to meet you.
